Matty had a vision for starting a new band: Blues Rock, with somewhat Southern Rock - Hard Roots flavors and a touch of an R&B vibe here and there. He had some songs that he previously wrote, and some new song ideas. Sweet Motor was the first band in a long time that his earlier writings would fit, and they fit well.

Then he met Jennifer. She also was looking for a new project, with some ideas of her own and one close to her musical heart. When Jennifer & Matty met, they talked, they clicked, and the band formed itself from there. Between Matty’s songwriting, and Jennifer penning the lyrics (and re-writing some older words), Sweet Motor started taking shape. Jennifer's presence up front perfectly displays the band's cool, yet authentic & honest personality. When the collectivity of each band members’ individual style and personal influences were blended - the end result is a beautiful, sweet & soulful rock & blues sound. This can be witnessed in both their original music as well as their wide array of re-invented and honored cover songs.

Sweet Motor often arranges material collectively. Jennifer, Eddie, and Matthew all have a heavy hand in the arrangement of the songs. Arranging and detailing tools from Eddie began to be an important part of Sweet Motor’s process and sound. When we are stuck, Eddie has the answer. Furthermore, Eddie’s bass playing and solid rootsy approach are the perfect backdrop for this band’s styles. As the band cruises along, Steve’s songwriting skills progressed, and now his sweet song writing is taking a footprint in the live setlists. The band has come to rely on Steve's ability to write and collaborate on "musical sections and instrumental passages."

 

The dual guitar attack is harmonious. Matty & Steve’s guitar styles are quite different. This

diverse approach is both complimentary and at times, powerful.

With the addition of the seasoned veteran drummer, Dave, who brings a wealth of talent and

skills, the band is currently peaking and sounding and performing better than ever.

Sweet Motor is well-received and “very likable” by our live audiences. This Motor is running smooth and you can hear us humming…..
